Biography | The Real Story

Barb Jones probably knows more about our country than most of us combined. Why? Because it wasn’t until 2003 that she officially became a citizen. So the fundamental concepts of American democracy are still pretty fresh in her mind.

Born in Montreal, her father’s company whisked her family to Wisconsin in 1979, just in time for her to start high school, become a huge Packers fan and, of course, get lost in the glorious world of cheese.

Barb spent her college summers bartending. As a result, she’s always willing to share her signature sage advice, as well as her signature hand-muddled mojito. And, as a result, we’ll always have an in-house “mixologist” – one who can speak fluent French while reminding us all about our inherent rights and responsibilities that come with being an American. (Now, that’s some “mix”!)

It was shortly after graduating college that Barb made the move to Denver or as it’s possibly known in her former hometown, the “1.6km-High City.” While it may have taken her a while to become an official American, it certainly didn’t take her long to become a official Coloradan. No sir – that rocky, western view finally called her name enough times and she soon became the proud parent of two Golden Retrievers, an Audi A4 and a place in Winter Park. It’s there that she regularly does the things she truly loves: skiing and snowshoeing in the winter; mountain biking and trail running in the summer; reading; or spending time with family and friends.

An avid traveler, Barb enjoys her treks through Europe, Africa and Asia. But when she wants to kick back and relax, and the mountains just won’t do, say “adios, amiga” because she’s Mexico-bound.

Yet our Canadian-born American girl, who loves wandering the planet, still claims to carry with her wherever she goes the “curse of the Irish” – gorgeous red hair and pristine porcelain skin. We say, slap on some sunscreen, sister – that’s a curse we can live with!
